59 Water St. W. (West Street entrance)
Ribbon cutting, cake and lunch - join us!
Morningstar Mission is creating a space that is welcoming, inclusive and accessible for everyone wishing to enjoy community, hot meals and many other programs. The ramp (Phase 1) is now complete allowing access from the West St. entrance! This allows individuals with mobility limitations to easily access the building.
We still need to raise $3,200 to finish payment. Your gift of any amount will help us reach this goal, and help individuals like Will (see Will’s story below) to access Morningstar Mission hurdle-free.
Simply click on the Donate Now button, and then select "Accessibility Project".
Phase 2 is our next target: an accessible washroom on the dining level. All donations made to the Accessibility Project will be directed to Phase 2 once Phase 1 is complete.
One Morningstar “regular” is Will. You will often see Will as he makes his way through town on his wheel chair, sometimes heading to The Mission to enjoy food and fellowship. Will is an avid reader, has a sharp mind for finance and is an advocate for those with different physical abilities.
But when Will gets to Morningstar, finding his way to the hot meal program is not easy. Will gets out of his chair, and pulls himself down the stairs to another wheel chair awaiting him. And then after his meal, he returns the same way he came (Will is proud and rejects any offers of assistance).
